Northern Michigan law enforcement train at Camp Grayling

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Hands-on training for law enforcement officers is back at Camp Grayling after being moved online last year because of COVID-19.

29 officers from across northern Michigan worked on defensive tactics during arrest situations as part of Tuesday's exercises.
The program started in 2001 to provide local law enforcement with specialized training opportunities.
“We have a strong commitment, all of us do," said Crawford County Sheriff Shawn Kraycz. "Each one of these officers here in this room work in their community and they go to work every day to listen with, in mind, to be as professional as they can be and to help and to save people.”

Officers will also learn emergency vehicle operation and handgun training.
