The most stylish quilted jackets to invest in now

From Burberry and Ganni to The Frankie Shop, we round up the best styles to buy now

By and Alice Howarth

It may not feel like it but spring is just around the corner, and there is nothing more relaxed, versatile and stylish for the season ahead than the coveted quilted jacket.

Seen on the Tod's, Dior and Isabel Marant runways, and loved by celebrities and influencers alike, the style has already become a new-season favourite – and thanks to its low-key silhouette, is unlikely to date anytime soon.

A new take on a classic puffer jacket, quilted jackets are a little more refined – less bulky but still cosy. Depending on your desired activity, the jackets generally fall into two camps – utilitarian waterproof styles (think browns, khakis and blacks) or patterned fabric jackets more synonymous with traditional quilting. Whichever you go for, you can choose from diagonal, round or diamond quilting; cropped, long, oversized or fitted.

With this much choice, we've searched both designer's new collections as well as the high street to bring you our edit of the best new-season quilted jackets to invest in now. From Burberry to The Frankie Shop, Ganni to Totême, each design will last (and keep you stylish and warm) for years to come. For late summer and autumn, wear your quilted jacket with a tee or a thin cardi and when the winter hits, just add a cosy jumper underneath.

You may have rediscovered the quilted trend after The Frankie Shop's Teddy coat went viral a few seasons ago – and now the New York-based brand is back with more quilted styles. This relaxed, slightly longer coat is made from ripstock. It has a boxy fit and a collarless neckline which adds an edge to an otherwise simple design.

Totême

We couldn't resist sneaking another Totême design into this edit. The brand excels in its selection of quilted jackets and we particularly love this camel, collared design.

Inject your spring wardrobe with some serious colour by investing in Avavav's patterned shell jacket in purple, which has a real Eighties feel about it. Team with tailored black trousers and heels for an excellent evening look.
