Sydney’s Human Noise have continued their run of stellar singles this year, with recent track “One Time” giving an insight into the sort of ferocious indie-rock the group are known for.

Released last week and set to appear on their forthcoming album, Animal People, “One Time” feels reminiscent of classic rock outfits such as Sonic Youth and The Strokes, albeit with a more modern feel, and sits effortlessly alongside recent tracks such as “Bad Language” and “Colourful Shirt”.

“I wanted to write a song that really just built itself off a single chord,” explains Eddie Boyd of the slow-burning single. “I love the tension that comes from just clinging to that drone for the first 3 and a half minutes before it finally releases into the outro.

“There are these long screeching guitar solos with the band chugging along underneath and it really lends itself to being drawn out when we play live. I feel like it’s a really nice break from an otherwise quite lyrically led album.”

Indeed a powerful showcase of their talents, “One Time” also comes accompanied by a rather memorable video which feels as though it both complements both the frenetic energy exhibited by the track, but also effortlessly fits into the two years that have beem.

“Both the lyrics and the music are kinda walking this tightrope that is always bound to give out,” explains Boyd, noting that the uncertainty of 2021 soon gave rise to a video filmed in lockdown. “I got everyone to film themselves playing the song at multiple angles with their laptop cameras and then edited it together,” he explains.

Equal parts slick, energetic, and – in typical Human Noise fashion – impossible to ignore, “One Time” is just another taster of what is to come when the group release their Animal People on October 21st. The group will also be hitting the road for a number of tour dates next month, with full details available below.
