UCLA Places Fourth at Wolf Pack Classic

RENO, Nev. – The UCLA men's golf team finished in fourth place (+14, 878) at the Wolf Pack Classic at Hidden Valley Country Club on Tuesday evening. The Bruins capped the tournament on a high note with a 1-under 287 in the third round.

Three Bruins finished round three at even par while graduate Devon Bling shot his best 18 holes of the Wolf Pack Classic with a 1-under 71. Bling tied for 15th (+1, 217) and senior Sean Maruyama was a stroke behind in 18th place (+2, 218).
 
New Mexico and San Francisco paced the field of 15 teams, finishing first and second at 14-under 850 and 10-under 854, respectively. Nevada, the course host and third-place finisher, ended the tournament 27 strokes behind the first-place Lobos.
 
Bling birdied five times in round three on the par-5 1st, par-4 6th, par-4 10th, par-4 15th and par-5 18th. Maruyama birdied four times in his last 18 holes, including three on the back nine.
 
Freshman Omar Morales recorded his best round on day two with an even par 72 featuring two birdies on the par-4 2nd and par-4 16th. Morales tied for 19th in his first collegiate tournament.
 
Graduate Eddy Lai birdied twice on the par-4 11th and par-4 16th in his final round, finishing the day at 1-over 73 and tied for 45th.
 
Redshirt sophomore Alvaro Muller Baumgart Lucena holed the most birdies for the Bruins on the day with five, but negated them two bogeys and a double bogey for his lowest round score of the tournament: even par 72.
 
UCLA closes its fall season next Friday in Alpharetta, Ga., at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational, held from Oct. 22-24.
