The Brooklyn Nets had some tough decisions to make when it came to their starting point guard, NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving. Because Irving remains unvaccinated, he was only going to be a part-time player for Brooklyn.

New York has mandates in place that you need to be vaccinated to take part in events around the city. Barclays Center fell under those mandates, meaning Irving would be ineligible to play in all 41 games there during the season. But, he would be eligible to play in road games.

As a result, the Nets made the tough decision to not allow him to play until he is fully eligible. Kevin Durant, James Harden, Joe Tsai, and Sean Marks were part of the group that was making the decision and ultimately it was decided that Irving wouldn’t play at all.

Brooklyn is now staring at a huge hole on their roster. Kyrie Irving was a big piece of the puzzle and integral to their game plan for success. Without him in the mix, they will likely turn to Harden to play more point guard with Patty Mills, Jevon Carter, and Bruce Brown getting more minutes as well.
