Cardinals DE Chandler Jones could miss game versus Browns (COVID-19)

The Cleveland Browns welcome the Arizona Cardinals to town on Sunday for a late afternoon game. The Cardinals are the lone unbeaten team in the entire NFL while the Browns sit at 3 – 2 a game behind the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North and two other teams for the top of the AFC.

Both teams are headlined by Heisman Trophy-winning passers from Oklahoma. Kyler Murray has inserted himself into MVP conversations early in the year while Baker Mayfield has had his ups and downs, including a shoulder injury, through the first games.

On the other side of the ball, Myles Garrett leads a hot-and-cold Cleveland defense with his league-leading seven sacks while Arizona’s Chandler Jones sits tied for fifth in the league with five sacks. All of Jones’ sacks came in the first game of the season and he’s only played in two of the Cardinals five games so far.

Jones could miss another game this week with the news Tuesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19. It is believed that Jones is vaccinated so he will only require two negative tests 24 hours apart to be activated from the COVID-19 list to play in Week 6.

With the Browns possibly being without their starting left and right tackles, both Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin are injured, and their primary backup, Chris Hubbard, going on injured reserve today, not having to face Jones could be very helpful to the offense.

Much like Tyrann Mathieu in Week 1 for the Browns, we will keep you up to date with Jones’ status as the week goes on.
