Eddie Hearn has revealed that he is hoping to see Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte to go toe-to-toe in a fight on UK soil.

Fury retained his WBC belt after a thrilling victory over Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas. The Gypsy King was floored twice in the fourth but recovered to defeat his American rival in a comprehensive display, capped off by an 11th round knockout.

It’s party time for Fury and his following, who are unlikely to have any interest in discussing who he could fight next, so soon after triumphing in a truly tremendous heavyweight bout.

That said, promotor Eddie Hearn is already sensing the opportunities that are promised by the prospect of Fury fighting WBC mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte, who has been waiting since what feels like the dawn of time for a world title shot.

Hearn told IFL TV in an exclusive interview, “Dillian Whyte is the mandatory for Tyson Fury, and that’ll be called in 30 days time.”

“Obviously, Dillian has a massive fight at the O2 with Otto Wallin, but he’s the mandatory challenger for Tyson Fury.”

“It’s a brilliant fight. I’d like to see Tyson back in the UK. He hasn’t boxed in the UK in three years or four years. It’s a massive fight for the division.”

Fury last fought in the UK against Francesco Pianeta in Belfast back in August 2018, his second rust-shedding fight in preparation for a bite at the Wilder cherry. His last fight in England was against Sefer Seferi two months earlier.

It is a rather mouth-watering prospect, seeing Fury step over the ropes and take on another British heavyweight favourite in Whyte in front of a home crowd. The time will come for getting that in the diary, but for now, he’s well within his rights to relax.
