(October 12, 2021) Music fans around the world are praying for the health of beloved UK singer and songwriter Kenny Thomas. Thomas’s manager posted on social media “It is with huge regret that I have taken the incredibly difficult and devastating decision to postpone the 30th anniversary tour of Voices due to Kenny testing positive for Covid, and his current health situation.”

He followed with a second, more worrisome post: “Kenny is very unwell and this morning was admitted to hospital where he is being carefully monitored. At the moment he is unable to respond to anyone via phone or email, so please do not get in touch at this time. We will keep you updated, as and when we can. Much appreciated.”

While he had only limited exposure in the States, Kenny Thomas burst onto the UK scene in the 90s as one of the hot young pop/soul performers.

While he had only limited exposure in the States, Kenny Thomas burst onto the UK scene in the 90s as one of the hot young pop/soul performers.

Thomas first hit the charts in 1991, covering The Gap Band’s 80s hit “Outstanding,” taking it to the UK Top 20. It began a string of hits that lasted a half decade, including the Top 10 “Thinking About Your Love,” “Best of You” and “Trippin’ On Your Love.” His albums Voices and Wait For Me were also smashes.

The hits slowed down for Thomas as the new millennium arrived, but he continued to record, issuing Crazy World to some acclaim in 2005, and Breathe in 2011. He also served as the lead singer for a reunited Living In a Box in the later ‘10s.

In 2018, a Nigel Lowis remix of Thomas’s underappreciated 2011 release “Your Love” climbed the R&B charts, reminding listeners again of the rich catalog of Thomas’s releases over the years.

We will all be praying for a full recovery for Kenny Thomas and the opportunity for his many fans to see him again on stage soon.
