The coroner in Wyoming’s Teton County said Tuesday that Gabby Petito was killed by strangulation and died three to four weeks before her body was found near an undeveloped camping area.

That would put her date of death in the range of Aug. 22 to Aug. 29. She was last seen alive Aug. 27.

The coroner had earlier declared her death a homicide.

Petito, 22, disappeared several weeks after embarking on a road trip with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, 23. The two had been a couple for two years and had been living with his parents in North Port, Florida, south of Tampa.

He returned to Florida without her. Before he disappeared, he refused to talk to police about Petito’s whereabouts.

Some other dates that have been confirmed concerning the pair’s travels:

July 2: Petito and Laundrie leave from New York on what they have planned as a four-month road trip through national parks in Petito’s van. Over the next several weeks, she frequently posts photos and video to social media. They were in Colorado by July 8 and Utah a week later.

Aug. 12: Petito and Laundrie are stopped by police in Arches National Park after a person reported seeing a man hitting a woman outside a store in nearby Moab, Utah. The couple acknowledges they had a dispute, and the police help Laundrie find lodging so the two can spend the evening apart.

Aug. 17: Laundrie flies home to Florida while Petito stays in Salt Lake City. He reportedly said he wanted to get some supplies and close a storage unit because the couple was thinking of extending their trip.

Aug. 23: Laundrie flies back to Utah.

Aug. 24: Laundrie and Petito check out of a hotel in Salt Lake City.

Aug. 25: Petito’s last voice communication with her family, in New York. She says she is in Grand Teton National Park. She also tells a friend on Snapchat that she is heading to Yellowstone.

Aug. 25: Petito posts her last photo, from Ogden, Utah, to her Instagram account.

Aug. 27: The last confirmed sighting of Petito, in the early afternoon at a restaurant in Jackson, Wyoming. A woman who says she saw the couple there reported that Laundrie apparently got in a confrontation with a restaurant employee, that he was “angry” and Petito was “upset” and crying when they left.

Aug. 27: A couple driving at about 6 p.m. in the Spread Creek camping area of Bridger-Teton National Forest — 30 miles from Jackson — record video that captures an image of Petito’s van parked off a gravel road. The couple, who is from Florida, said they took notice because it had Florida plates. They said they saw nobody with the van.

Aug. 27: Petito’s mother receives a text message from the young woman’s phone, but she said she found it odd and is not sure it was from her daughter.

Aug. 30: Petito’s mother receives another text message from the phone, saying only, “No service in Yosemite.”

Sept. 1: Laundrie arrives at his parents’ house in North Port, Florida, having driven home in the van. Petito is not with him. From Jackson to North Port is about 2,500 miles.

Sept. 4: Laundrie buys a new phone with an AT&T data plan. It is unknown what happened to the phone he was carrying in the video of the Aug. 12 interaction with Moab police.

Sept. 11: Petito’s parents report her missing.

Sept. 14: Laundrie’s parents, Chris and Roberta, initially said they last saw their son on this day, when he drove away from their home. He had a backpack and intended to go on a hike, they said. Later, their attorney said they changed their account, having realized they last saw him on Sept. 13.

Sept. 15: Laundrie’s parents reportedly find his Ford Mustang at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, a few miles from their home.

Sept. 16: North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison says at a news conference that he knows where Brian Laundrie is “right now.” It later was revealed that police incorrectly believed he was in the family home because they had mistaken his mother for him.

Sept. 17: Laundrie’s parents report him missing. They say he left behind his wallet and phone.

Sept. 19: A body is found in the Spread Creek camping area of Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming.

Sept. 20: FBI agents search the Laundrie home and seize items including his phone, the family’s lawyer says. His Mustang is towed away.

Sept. 21: The body found at Spread Creek is confirmed as Petito’s, and the coroner in Wyoming’s Teton County declares her death a homicide.

Oct. 20: Human remains are found near items belonging to Brian Laundrie in an area officials identify as Carlton Reserve, near Myakkahatchee Creek park.

Oct. 21: The remains are confirmed to be those of Laundrie.

Nov. 23: The Laundrie family’s attorney announces that the autopsy determined Laundrie’s death to be suicide by gunshot.
