Before the hit South Korean Netflix series Squid Game came out, Fall Guys was heavily compared to the Japanese TV series Takeshi’s Castle. Now that Squid Game is in the picture, it’s undeniable that Fall Guys also have similarities with the show. Because of this, Mediatonic may bring back a scrapped game mode that has heavy similarities with Squid Game.
Mediatonic initially had plans to release a level similar to the Red Light Green Light game. The reason behind their second thoughts was due to the challenge the studio saw in implementing the level. Game Designer Joseph Walsh explains that the level could potentially become boring because of going idle in between. Because of this reason, the studio didn’t find any justification to fully develop the level. However, Squid Game’s Red Light Green Light was a huge hit all over the world. Memes, Tiktok videos, and parodies about the game started trending on social media. Mediatonic acknowledges Squid Game’s success and is now willing to attempt to revive the similar level.
Aside from Fortnite, Fall Guys is another game that comes up with huge crossovers in their game. Both Fall Guys and Squid Game require their players to go through a plethora of stages to move further. Apparently, because of these similarities, Mediatonic actually came up with a level similar to what we see in Squid Game. Thanks to the show’s popularity, we might see a potential crossover while reviving a scrapped idea in the process.
