Pumpkin Fest: Pumpkin Fest at Cal Poly Pomona returns for its 18th year with hayrides, a petting zoo, a giant corn maze, a new Moo Moo Cow Train, a children’s garden and, of course, the perfect pumpkin patch. Fall into all the fun from 3-8 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays or 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Also, the “Brave the Night Maze,” Fridays-Saturdays through Oct. 31 (separate ticket price). Fall fun at Kidspace Museum: Halloween at the museum includes pumpkin decorating, story time and an up-close look at spiders plus a chance to walk along the Halloween parade “catwalk,” Oct. 14-17; 19-22; 24, and 26-31 (timed admission required; bit.ly/3mJOFoh). Current special exhibit is “Mighty Build” where children can create geometric towers, cardboard critters and explore a cardboard arroyo, featuring a cardboard flying machine created by artist Wayne White. Carved – Descanso Gardens: Tickets are on sale for the walk-through display of hundreds of carved pumpkins that line a one-mile walk through the Camellia Forest and the Oak Grove plus a hay maze and a pumpkin house, through Oct. 31. Family Friday Movie Night: Rain prompted the rescheduling of “Family Friday Movie Night” at the Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens. Disney’s “Coco” (2017) will screen following pre-show activities, 6:15 p.m. Oct. 15. Doña Ofelia Esparza, a sixth-generation altar-maker, artist and educator, will lead in the making of an ofrenda. It’s Alive!: Fancy a little grave-digging? Downtown Repertory Theater presents “It’s Alive!” a Frankenstein-theme immersive experience inspired by the writings of Mary Shelley. Homestead Museum: The Homestead Museum, with its landmark homes, cemetery, and gardens, is open for outdoor, self-guided tours from noon to 4 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
