Video: Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk Scores Opening Goal for The Netherlands
Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk scored the Netherlands' opening goal against Gibraltar in their World Cup Qualifying game yesterday.
Liverpool fans were hoping that the Netherlands may rest Virgil van Dijk for their game against Gibraltar.
However, Louis van Gaal had no intentions of resting his captain yesterday.
Thankfully, Virgil didn't get an injury and he also managed to get on the scoresheet against Gibraltar too.
Virgil van Dijk Scores
It was a very Van Dijk-Esque goal from the main man himself.
The big man bagged himself the Netherlands' opening goal from a corner, thanks to an amazing delivery from Memphis Depay.
The ex-Manchester United man had a unbelievable game too. Depay had two goals and two assists during the 90 minutes.
The Netherlands ended up beating Gibraltar 6-0, a very convincing win by Louis van Gaal's men.
Hopefully Virgil can start bagging more goals for Jurgen Klopp's side this season.
LFC Transfer Room Verdict
The big man looks back to his best after his season ending injury last season.
If we can see the confidence that he displayed in the 2019/20 title winning season, then Liverpool will challenge for everything.
