Canelo Alvarez says Caleb Plant will be easy work

In his last in-ring assignment, unified super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KO’s) won in grand fashion. The redhead was testing his wits and brawn against talented southpaw and former two-division world champion Billy Joe Saunders. Not only did Alvarez prevail, but with one devastating uppercut he shattered the UK fighter’s face. At this point in time, it is still unknown whether Saunders will ever compete professionally again.

In his next bout, on November 6, the Mexican superstar will face the challenge of IBF world super middleweight champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant (21-0, 12 KO’s). In his opinion, Canelo feels that Plant will be even easier. There is no question that there is a tremendous amount on the line with this upcoming duel. Not only is it a title fight, and unification, the winner will be crowned the undisputed champion of the 168-pound division. Going a step even further, the winner will be the first ever undisputed super middleweight champion in history.

DIFFICULTY: BEGINNERS LEVEL

Naturally, neither man wants to miss out on all that glory. Yet, despite everything that is on the line, Alvarez is confident that he will leave Plant dusted and disgusted well within the distance. In a recent interview that he conducted on the Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer, the redhead phenomenon delved into his thoughts on how the fight would play out.

“The first round is going to be difficult because of his style, but I know how to break down that style. After maybe five rounds I’m going to do my things!”

Beyond mere tough talk and bravado, Canelo believes that he is the better fighter for a number of down to Earth reasons.

“I’m more mature, I’m more strong, more a complete fighter with more experience. I’m a complete fighter now, I’m in my peak!”

NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER

It wouldn’t take a nuclear physicist or master of human psychiatry to ascertain the fact that these two men have static. Plant has openly let it be known that he feels that Canelo is a drug cheat. The Tennessee native also loves to highlight that Alvarez struggles in the ring more than his benefactors care to talk about. As one would imagine, the redhead was a bit miffed by the unflattering commentary.

Feeling disrespected, the unified champion has placed extra emphasis into putting the hurt on Sweethands. With the stage set as it is, come fight night, boxing fans are sure to be in for a treat. Even as Canelo has admitted himself, Plant will be a puzzle that he will have to solve over time. Or, will Sweethands defy the odds and prove to be an enigma beyond the sleuthing capabilities of the redhead? Either way, the dustup should be a thrill to watch right from the clang of the opening bell.
