Shop early this holiday season. That's the message we've been hearing from retailers who are faced with a breakdown in the global supply chain. Those problems are real, according to Jonathan Gold with the National Retail Federation.
"All the big categories you can think of are all being impacted; things like apparel, footwear, consumer electronics, home appliances, and toys," Gold said.
While most stores have plenty of inventory right now, if you wait to cash in on the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, some of the things you really want – especially hot toys and popular electronics – may not be available.
So, what's the smart move here?
"Shop at a store that has a price guarantee, or use a credit card that has a price guarantee. If the item goes down in price after you've purchased it, usually within 30 or 60 days, you've got a right to get the difference back," recommends super shopper Edgar Dworsky, founder of ConsumerWorld.org.
To convince shoppers they can "buy now" with confidence, Target recently revised its holiday price match guarantee. As of Oct. 10, customers can request a price adjustment for any items they buy in store or online if Target lowers the price before Dec. 24.
