(670 The Score) The Blackhawks have placed defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk on long-term injured reserve, they announced Tuesday morning.

Kalynuk is dealing with a right ankle sprain. The designation means he’ll have to miss at least 10 games and 24 days. He’ll be out until at least Nov. 5.

Kalynuk, 24, had nine points (four goals, five assists) in 21 games for the Blackhawks last season.

The Blackhawks on Tuesday also recalled forward MacKenzie Entwistle and forward Philipp Kurashev from AHL Rockford.

In another procedural move, the Blackhawks placed forward Andrew Shaw on long-term injured reserve as well. He announced in April his intention to retire, citing a long history of concussions.

Chicago opens the regular season at Colorado on Wednesday evening.
