The feud continues between Al Roker and the Rockefeller Christmas Tree — and already, things are pretty intense. For the third year in a row, the beloved Today show meteorologist got into a fierce, punny tweet battle with the New York City holiday spectacle via its feisty Twitter account @30RockTree. Unlike in the past though, the spruce called out the weather anchor well before it had even made its trip from Maryland to the Big Apple.
For respected weather presenter, journalist, and food podcast host, Al Roker, Thanksgiving used to be a huge affair with his family. "When my family was a little younger, I've got two daughters and a son, and my parents were still with us, we'd have a big dinner," he told Thrillist. There were times when their guest list would include as many as 20 people. Roker said that he would happily start cooking and prepping the evening before Thanksgiving.
Fast food has the power to unite people everywhere — even celebrities can't live without their favorite orders. According to Insider, Justin Timberlake enjoyed celebratory Taco Bell after the 2014 People's Choice Awards, Rihanna loves the Barbados fast food chain Chefette, and Kanye West has even Tweeted that he loves McDonald's more than any other restaurant and once even wrote a poem called "The McDonald's Man." With star endorsements like these, it doesn't come as a shock that even TV personality Al Roker has a go-to fast food order when he hits the road.
Many people often correlate an intimate relationship between food and family, and television personality Al Roker is no exception. "I think food is one of those [things where], your mom or dad, or whoever cooked in your house, that was the way they, in a sense, showed love and nurturing," Roker told Mashed in an exclusive interview. "So, anything my mom made was special to me. My dad was a great breakfast short-order cook. And I always remember him either doing pancakes or baking bread, or making grits and eggs. [The] best memories as a kid, I think for a lot of us, revolve around family meals, whether it was breakfast, whether it was dinner or Sunday dinner, or a picnic lunch that your parents put together for a day at the beach. I think those always evoke great memories."
While Al Roker and Deborah Roberts spent the Thanksgiving holiday celebrating with family like many others, they also took it as a chance to pay homage to someone dear. The Today star's wife took to her social media to share that on the occasion, she paid a heartfelt tribute to a late relative.

Preparing Thanksgiving dinner is to a home cook as finishing a marathon is to a runner — it takes a lot of preparation, a lot of work, and a lot of patience. The turkey alone is a monumental task, between choosing the right size to roasting it properly so that it turns out juicy instead of dried-out. Add to that the side dishes, the bread, the desserts, and the drinks, and you have nothing short of a miracle to pull off before your guests arrive.

Charles Spencer's social media feed is often filled with stunning shots of his family home, Althorp House, but earlier this week he shared a different kind of photo. The father-of-seven stunned fans when he shared an unseen photo from his childhood in which he was sat up in bed eagerly reading The Battle of Blenheim. In the picture, which was taken in 1976, the young Earl sported some red hair as he wore a pyjama top with an intricate pattern decorating it, and made sure to keep warm in a white dressing gown. Behind him where a large pair of white curtains that had already been drawn.
If someone were to ask what the best part about Thanksgiving was, they would likely get a ton of different answers — digging into a big and juicy turkey, beating your friends and family at board games, recreating your grandma's old sweet potato pie recipe — there's no wrong answer. What everyone can most definitely agree on, however, is that the leftovers that you are bound to end up with for days worth of Thanksgiving-themed meals in the coming weeks is the best part about the holiday. And the best way to enjoy Thanksgiving leftovers is by stuffing them into a big fat sandwich.
