The Penguins said Evgeni Malkin was placed on long-term injured reserve and Sidney Crosby's status was changed to injured non-roster on Tuesday.Also, the team said Zach Aston-Reese has been added to the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list.The moves were announced ahead of Pittsburgh's season opener at Tampa Bay on Tuesday night.Malkin is expected to miss the first two months of the season while recovering from knee surgery.Crosby made the trip to Tampa as he continues to recover from wrist surgery.
