This 400HP Track-Only Italian Supercar Weighs As Little As A Mazda Miata

Based in Rovereto in Northern Italy, Bermat is a fledging supercar manufacturer that was first launched in 2015. And after more than half a decade of research and development, the company is now showing off its forthcoming production models — at the top of which sits the Italian marque’s closed-course-only GT-Pista supercar model.

Developed in collaboration with fellow Italian shop and race squad JAS Motorsport, the track-only-spec of the GT is built around an advanced monocoque chassis draped in all carbon fiber bodywork. At the heart of the GT-Pista is a longitudinally-mounted supercharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that’s mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox which is backed by a self-locking differential and sends power to the rear wheels. Though its forced induction four-banger only produces up to 400hp and 332ft-lbs of torque — still impressive figures, just nothing mind-blowing by today’s super and hypercar standards — the track-only Bermat’s incredible performance capabilities are made possible through its immensely svelte weight of approximately 2,425lbs — only 10lbs heavier than the latest Mazda Miata and more than 400lbs less than the newest Lamborghini Huracan EVO. Coupled with its sub-one-and-a-quarter-tonne curb weight, the GT-Pista’s 400 horses enable the Italian supercar to clock 0-60mph runs in just four seconds flat. Affording the car cutting-edge stopping and cornering abilities are a push-rod suspension setup with adjustable shock absorbers, six-pot calipers chomping down on 15″ vented discs, and 19″ ten-spoke OZ Racing wheels wrapped in sticky Pirelli DHB tires. The car’s cockpit, display, and user interface were also reportedly inspired by auto racing video games and feature a 12″ digital cluster set in an all carbon fiber dash, carbon-backed race seats with four-point harnesses, and an F1-style flat-bottom carbon steering wheel with color-coded race control buttons.

Though pricing and production numbers have yet to be revealed, Bermat has stated that the GT-Pista — and its road-legal counterparts — are slated for a release in the first half of 2022. The company is also giving customers the option of customizing their own unique Bermat supercar using the upcoming configurator on its website.
