The Pittsburgh Pirates have 11 arbitration eligible players this offseason. After examining MLB Trade Rumor’s 2022 salary projections, among other reasons, for each of these players, there are a few who are candidates to be non-tender.

Monday afternoon MLB Trade Rumors released arbitration projections for each MLB player who is arbitration eligible this offseason. This included projections for each of the 11 Pittsburgh Pirates players who are arbitration eligible.

Some of the arbitration eligible the Pittsburgh Pirates have are no brainer decisions to tender them a contract. This includes the likes of Ben Gamel, Bryan Reynolds, Chris Stratton and Jacob Stallings.

There are some Pirate players who are arbitration eligible who are non-tender candidates this offseason, however. This could be due to what they are projected to earn in comparison to how much value the Pittsburgh Pirates view the player as being able to add. For some players it is due to the upcoming 40-man roster crunch and the organization’s need to open up 40-man roster spots. For others, it could be a combination of the two.
