Get Straight Talk, Tracfone 5G Without The High Cost With Nokia G300

HMD Global has now announced a brand new 5G handset, dubbed the Nokia G300, set to arrive soon at Straight Talk Wireless and Tracfone. The 6.52-inch handset packs an HD+ resolution display panel paired in a shiny Charcoal-colored finish. And, in true Nokia fashion, sets a high bar for phones in its price bracket.

Here’s what really sets Nokia G300 apart from the competition

Not only does the Nokia G300 deliver Android 11 out-of-the-box via Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480 5G platform. The octa-core chip is backed by 4GB RAM and 64G of microSD card-expandable storage. Powering the chip, HMD Global packed in a 4,470mAh capacity battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support for 18W charging. That’s via USB-C, with up to two days of use on a single charge, according to the company.

In terms of hardware, the Nokia G300 also delivers extra features on the outside. Starting with a power-button-mounted fingerprint scanner and a dedicated Google Assistant button. As well as a 3.5mm audio jack.

HMD Global embedded an 8-megapixel selfie snapper too, just above the 720 x 1,600-pixel display panel in the Nokia classic V-style notch. While around the back, a 16-megapixel autofocus snapper with an f/1.8 aperture is paired with a 5-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 2-megapixel depth camera.

The cameras support Bokeh, Video EIS, and OZO spatial audio with wind noise cancellation. That’s in addition to Night mode. And, of course, the front camera supports Face Unlock features.

Pricing and availability

HMD Global hasn’t provided any specific details for this handset regarding its durability. So there’s no IP rating for water or dust resistance listed and it’s unclear just how rugged the new phone is too. However, it does say that its phone is “expertly crafted to withstand the bumps and bruises of today’s mobile lifestyle.” And that it’s been tested to ensure “relentless durability.”

But the biggest selling point here may still be the 5G support for next-gen networking. Especially with consideration for the starting price of just $199. Making this one of the most affordable 5G handsets available anywhere. And matching the apparent trend for Nokia, focusing on performance and features without the high costs typically associated with those characteristics. Sales for the gadget will start on October 19.
