Coronation Street's Shona Platt will decide to take matters into her own hands when the sinkhole in her garden collapses next week, as she attempts to stage a daring rescue of Johnny and Jenny Connor.
As the stunt-filled Super Soap Week kicks off next week, Johnny (Richard Hawley) is doing some soul-searching after finding out that his ex Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) is moving on by dating newcomer Leo (Joe Frost).
Johnny confides in his daughter Carla Barlow (Alison King) that he is planning on moving to Bali to be with his other daughter Kate and have a change of scene. When Carla breaks the news to Jenny about Johnny's plans, Jenny is stunned.

Later on, Jenny and Johnny meet in the beer tent at Debbie Webster's (Sue Devaney) House of Horrors Halloween event and have a heart-to-heart, with Jenny telling Johnny that she hopes he isn't leaving Weatherfield because of her.
Soon afterwards, a terrible storm blows in and panic sets in over the sinkhole damage in the Platts' garden getting worse. Sure enough, as Jenny searches for Johnny outside, she is swallowed up by the ground – while shocked Shona (Julia Goulding) watches on in horror.

When Johnny appears, Shona begs him not to put himself in danger but, ignoring her words of warning, Johnny edges himself into the sinkhole, determined to rescue Jenny.
Down in the old Victorian sewers, Johnny hears Jenny crying for help and manages to battle his way towards her. As the water continues to rise, Johnny assures Jenny that it is only a matter of time before someone comes to rescue them.
They both cling to a ladder and scream for help, desperate to be heard.

Up on the street, Shona and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) help Leo to prise open the manhole cover outside the factory in an attempt to reach the trapped couple.
To David's horror, Shona decides to take matters into her own hands and grabs a rope. She quickly disappears down the manhole in search of Johnny and Jenny – but will they all manage to get out alive?

Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod recently told Digital Spy and other media that the terrifying incident will force Jenny and Johnny to "face up to their feelings for each other and their past, as well as what they want from their future".
He continued: "It's incredibly dramatic, but equally, it's very funny. It's very heartfelt, it's incredibly moving and emotional."
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, October 18, Wednesday, October 20 and Friday, October 22 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
