Sunmi hit back to the death threats and hate comments she received from Girls Planet 999 viewers.

Mnet hailed Sunmi as its K-pop master on the girl group debut survival program Girls Planet 999. She notably gave the idol wannabes advice during the show's first broadcast in August, telling them what she wanted to see in them.

At that time, the K-pop idol repeatedly said she wanted to see everyone's charm and energy throughout the survival period. Following the broadcast, many viewers called her out for providing ambiguous screening criteria.

The hate continued to occur since then, and she recently saw how the comments worsened these days.

As the K-pop master of the idol audition program, Sunmi dedicates her time to hone the contestants' skills. Her role as a mentor and judge also gives her the power to give everyone friendly advice.

However, she alarmed her fans when she posted screenshots from an online forum where fans of Girls Planet 999 usually lurk.

On Monday, she shared the post with the title, "How should I kill this b*tch Sunmi hehehe." One commenter added fuel to the fire by cursing her and warning to slam her as soon as she releases an album.

Another user mentioned her comment in the show's first episode, calling her crazy shaman, who gets complaints about her lack of aura.

Sunmi, in return, penned a statement questioning people's comments about her before asking everyone to consume their energy on supporting the show's contestants instead.

The series of tweets read (as translated by Soompi):

"What did I do that was so wrong?

What should I do?

What about me made you hate seeing me so much and made you want to kill me? Was it my judging standards that I mentioned in Episode 1? Up until now, I've been monitoring [the show] and making efforts to talk [on the program] in a way that more people would be able to relate to and understand. I also genuinely spent every moment sincerely thinking about what more I could do for our [contestants].

Just cheer harder for our [contestants], please."

Mnet has not responded on how it will control the amount of hate Sunmi receives. It also has not released a statement yet to address the issue.

Still, Sunmi is no longer a stranger to that kind of hate.

Before becoming the Girls Planet 999 game master, she joined the panel of judges on the JTBC show Sing Again in December. The show focuses on giving established singers second chances to expand their careers.

The show hailed her as one of the judges due to the idol's experience in the industry. Sunmi initially debuted as one of the members of the JYP Entertainment girl group, Wonder Girls. She then launched her solo career in 2013, three years before leaving the group temporarily.

In 2015, Sunmi and Wonder Girls made comebacks until their disbandment in 2017. Outside Wonder Girls, she famously released hit songs like Gashina, Heroine, Siren, Noir, and LALALAY.

Despite her more than a decade career, people questioned her capacity as the show's judge and sent her hate messages instead.

After the comments surfaced last year, Sunmi responded through an Instagram Story post and proved her capacity as an idol. She also ended her post by pledging to do better.

While hate messages are not new in the industry, fans reminded others that no K-pop idol deserves to suffer that way.
