Monster Hunter Rise cross play save

Monster Hunter Rise Will Not Have Cross Save or Cross Play

Capcom will not add cross-play and cross-save functionality to Monster Hunter Rise and its upcoming Sunbreak expansion. While the company states that Monster Hunter Rise‘s development processes make it difficult to implement the features currently, the wording suggests that it may be possible at a later date.

Capcom took to Twitter to reveal that it was unable to implement the features after reviewing its development plans. The company specifies that it was unable to do so “this time,” which possibly means cross-save and cross-play features could appear in the future. It’s important to note, though, that Monster Hunter World also does not feature cross-play or cross-save.

After the recent reveal of a PC port for Monster Hunter Rise coming in January 2022, one of the most frequently asked questions by fans was whether their progress would transfer from the Nintendo Switch. Considering the Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak expansion is also releasing in Summer 2022, a cross-save feature would let players pick up where they left off rather than starting from scratch. Furthermore, a cross-play feature would also allow those playing Monster Hunter Rise on the Nintendo Switch to play with hunters on PC.

The upcoming Sunbreak expansion will add Master Rank quests to the game, as well as new story missions, monsters, and hunting actions. The elder dragon Malezeno will also appear in the game, in addition to several new and returning monsters such as the Shogun Ceanataur.

Monster Hunter Rise is immediately available for the Nintendo Switch. The PC version of the game will release via Steam on January 12, 2022, and the Sunbreak expansion DLC is coming sometime in Summer 2022.
