CHERYL ANDREA MARVAR

Cheryl Andrea Marvar, 73, of Alpena died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Jan. 12, 1948, in Detroit to Curtis and Nora (Collins) Fulk. She married Martin Marvar on June 13, 1970, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseville, Michigan and recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

Cheryl was a teacher by nature and even made a career of it, having taught art at Posen Schools in 1970, Alpena Public Schools in the 1980’s, then received her Masters’ degree and taught multiple levels at Pied Piper for 23 years. Her final years before retirement were with the preschool students, which she found especially delightful.

In addition to her students, she had many interests, particularly in the area of art and design, creating materials for the classroom, booklets for the parents, and even a recipe book for her family and friends. She was an avid reader, accomplished seamstress, and had particular interests in archaeology, antiques, dolls, and history.

Besides her husband, Cheryl leaves behind their daughter, Deana (Caldwell) of Bay City, Michigan, grandchildren Kannen and Kailey of California, and her special cat, ‘Allie’. Their son, Darin, preceded her in death in 2017, also from cancer. Cheryl has one surviving brother, Curtis Fulk, Jr. of Harrison, Michigan.
