The Canadiens have several injuries and absences to their lineup.
According to PuckPedia, Mike Hoffman, Paul Byron,
Shea Weber,
Joel Edmundson, and Sami Niku have been placed on injured reserve. Weber won't be playing at all during the 2021-22 season so it's likely he gets placed on LTIR at some point.
Star goaltender
Carey Price has been placed on long-term injured reserve while he is away at the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program.
On interesting note from how the Canadiens broke down their 23-man roster by only carrying six defencemen could indicate that
Joel Edmundson and/or Sami Niku could be ready to return in the next week or so.
Montreal will play their first game of the season on Wednesday night in Toronto against the Maple Leafs. Puck drop is set for 7pm ET on Sportsnet and TVA.
