BOSTON — Kiké Hernández’s walkoff RBI sacrifice fly in the ninth inning has sent the Red Sox to the American League Championship Series.

Boston won 6-5 over Tampa Bay here in Game 4 at Fenway Park to take the best-of-five ALDS, 3-1.

This marks Boston’s seventh appearance in the ALCS since 2003.

The Red Sox will face either the White Sox or Astros. The Astros lead the other best-of-five ALDS, 2-1. Game 4 was postponed Monday due to rain. It will be played Tuesday at 2:07 p.m.

The ALCS will begin Friday in either Chicago or Houston. Boston will start on the road because it will be the lower seed against either team.

Games 3, 4 and 5 (if necessary) will be at Fenway Park.

Rafael Devers’ 404-foot three-run homer to center field was part of a five-run third inning that put the Red Sox ahead 5-0. But the Rays scored one in the fifth, two in the sixth and two in the eighth to tie it.

Christian Vázquez led off the ninth with a single and advanced to second on Christian Arroyo’s bunt. He then went to first on an error that allowed Travis Shaw to reach.

Hernández’s 300-foot sac fly to left field won it.
