We first met Chris and Katie Pliner in May 2017 after a storm damaged their farm. Katie was dealing with a serious illness due to mold in their home."You never know what life is going to bring one day to the next," Katie Pliner said.Then on Jan. 1, 2018, Chris suffered a massive stroke. He was given a 2% chance of recovery. Three brain surgeries later and they are basically left with nothing, but the desire to move back to the country.The couple has landed in Gowrie where they started building a home.A modest handicap accessible home for Chris who stands more than 6 feet, 6 inches tall. "We have money we just don't have enough. We are just praying that God will provide," Pliner said.The Pliners are hoping for help through donations at the Community State Bank in Ankeny or Venmo @ckhomefund.
