LeBron James’ eldest son, Bronny, is widely regarded as one of the most fascinating young basketball recruits in the country.
Obviously because his father is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, anything Bronny does is under a bit of a magnifying glass.
That said, even if LeBron wasn’t his dad, Bronny would still be one of the top names in the 2023 recruiting class on skill alone.
Currently, Bronny is recognized as a top five or six combo guard and top 30 overall recruit.
One of the things that stands out about Bronny is his resilience. He has bounced back strong from a horrific injury already, and has shown a similarly strong will when bouncing back from poor showings on the court.
Earlier this year, Yahoo! Sports insider Krysten Peek offered four legitimate collegiate options to keep an eye on when it comes to Bronny’s next chapter.
“Duke, North Carolina, Kansas and Kentucky have all shown early interest,” she wrote.
Moreover, all of the scouts that examine Bronny’s game come away with surprising positive takeaways.
“Bronny has been a positive surprise,” an NBA scout told Yahoo. “He’s shown me he’s more than a last name, he can make shots and handle the ball. He’s very even-keeled for someone who’s under the microscope.”
This aligns with something a different scout said late last year.
Another interesting side plot here is whether Bronny actually ends up going to college.
LeBron has made it no secret that he wants to play in the NBA alongside Bronny one day, and in order for that to come to fruition, a pretty rigid plan needs to be followed. A key portion of that plan is Bronny going pro ASAP.
Keep an eye on this situation. How warmly Bronny reacts to the college recruitment process in the coming weeks and months will tell us a lot about the likelihood of him ever spending time in the NBA alongside his dad.
