Lung force walk returns in person, fighting lung cancer

REHOBOTH, Del. – The eighth annual Lung Force walk is set to take place on Sunday, and organizers say they’re excited to return in person to share their mission.

Lynda Neef with the American Lung Association in Delaware tells us, events like these help raise the money to continue researching lung cancer. Something that is increasingly affecting more and more people every day, especially non-smokers.

Neef says, through their efforts, they’ve been able to help improve the survival rate from 13% to now 22.6%, and they only want to go up from there. “It’s just a great day, we see this beautiful sea of turquoise, and people who are there are really there to inspire hope and positivity and to tell their story,” says Neef. She adds, “The more we can help raise awareness, the more people feel sort of involved in their diagnosis and their treatment, the better their outcomes can be, and I think overall the better quality of life they’ll have while battling the disease as well.”

We’re also told the organization has a goal of $70,000 to go towards lung cancer research.
