Hibernian have announced that fans visiting for the game against Celtic on Wednesday 27th of October. The Easter Road club have said that they will enforce Vaccine Passports for this, their first home game, since the law comes into force.

Speaking to Edinburgh Evening News, a Hibs spokesperson outlined that they would require the vaccine passports for the game against Celtic; however, they would detail specifics nearer the time.

“We will release further details on Covid Passports ahead of our home game against Celtic, which will take place on Wednesday 27 October, so supporters have clear, concise information.

“The decision to implement a Covid vaccine passport was not taken by us, but we must follow Government guidance in order to keep our fans safe.

“We would accept both digital and paper copies of your vaccination status, but would advise supporters to use a paper copy if possible due to the reported issues with the NHS Scotland Covid Status App. We also believe this will be the quickest way for you to gain entry to Easter Road.

“Supporters attending from the rest of the UK and the broader Common Travel Area (including Republic of Ireland) will be able to use their existing Covid Status apps with QR Codes or paper-based certificates. Visitors from outside the UK can use proof of vaccination from the country they were vaccinated in.”

Venues hosting more than 10,000 will require the Vaccine Passports, confirming supporters’ status regarding COVID-19 vaccination. However, the Scottish Government’s plans come into place in a few days and some are questioning the logistics of getting fans into the grounds using the system. Celtic face Motherwell on Saturday before facing Ferencvaros on Tuesday afternoon in the Europa League. The month also features two home games against St Johnstone and Livingston, with the visit to Easter Road sandwiched in between these two fixtures.
