(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A White Sox fan from Logan Square promises to get a tattoo to honor a big moment in Game 3 of the American League Division Series.

The White Sox on Sunday were trailing the Houston Astros 5-1 in the bottom of the 3rd inning, with the very real possibility looming that Chicago would get swept from the playoffs. A two-run homer from catcher Yasmani Grandal made the score 5-3.

There were two men on when Leury Garcia — a utility player who was playing right field last night — stepped up to the plate.

In Logan Square, White Sox fan Gilbert Redman was watching the game and posting his observations to Twitter.

He said he would get a tattoo if Garcia hit a home run. He did, and the White Sox had a 6-5 lead.

Redman's tweet eventually caught the attention of the White Sox social media team, which joked: "a promise is a promise."

The fan said the White Sox gave him the opportunity to back out.

"They did private message me and said 'Hey, you don't have to go through with this, we're not going to hold you to it. But if you do, let us know.' So, I fully intend on letting them know and taking advantage of this opportunity, I guess," Redman said.

Redman has multiple tattoos already, and he said that he's already thinking about designs.

"In my head I'm thinking (about) a jersey design. I might just do his number and his name and the date yesterday when this happened," he said Monday.

Ideally, Redman said, last night's Garcia home run is a turning point in the playoff series.

The White Sox still trail Houston 2-1 in the series, and a loss would end their season. No matter the outcome, Redman believes his tattoo will serve as a reminder of a moment in White Sox postseason history.

Game 4 was to be played today, but has been postponed until Tuesday because of severe weather.
