Ole Miss held on for a huge 52-51 win against Arkansas on Saturday but it was a tough day for the Rebels on defense.

In addition to the 51 points, Lane Kiffin’s team allowed 676 total yards and the Razorbacks offense ran a staggering 83 plays, 58 on the ground and 25 through the air.

On Monday during his weekly media availability, Kiffin acknowledged that his defenders were on the field far too long and that it took a toll as the game wore on.

“A lot of guys played in the 70s and 80s (snaps) which is not good, no matter what, especially in tempo,” Kiffin said. “We have to play more guys. We wore down, that was evident.”

Of course, the No. 13 Rebels likely won’t get much of a break in that regard on Saturday, as they head to Knoxville to face Josh Heupel’s Tennessee offense, which plays as fast as anyone in the country.

The game between Ole Miss and the Volunteers will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. EST and be televised on the SEC Network.
