A Grand Island man was referred for charges after he allegedly drove the wrong way down a street and assaulted a woman.
Johnathon Lee, 37, was referred for charges of domestic assault, driving during suspension and willful reckless driving,
According to Grand Island Police, around 4:15 p.m. Friday, officers received multiple calls saying Lee was driving the wrong way down First Street. They also advised a female was attempting to get out of the vehicle while Lee was beating her.
GIPD said they do not know how far Lee drove down First Street, but he ended up at Locust Street and Oklahoma Avenue when officers contacted him.
Upon arrival, the woman, a 34-year-old from Kearney, attempted to walk away from Lee and was found to be bruised and bleeding from her face due to the assault.
GIPD said she was not transported for her injuries.
