The Kansas City Chiefs continue to slide, losing in Week 5 to the Buffalo Bills which dropped them to 2-3 on the season. That’s already three losses for last season’s Super Bowl finalists and quarterback Patrick Mahomes is taking the full blame, especially for Sunday. Via ESPN:

“It starts with me,” Mahomes said after throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble against the Bills. “It’s something I’ve not usually done in my career, but I have to reevaluate where I’m at, what decisions I’m making.

“I’ve been a crazier player as far as scrambling and making throws. But in my career I’ve never been someone who throws a lot of interceptions. I have to look at it now, reevaluate what I’m doing, and I have to cut it out.”

The Chiefs star indeed struggled against Buffalo as mentioned, throwing two interceptions and botching a snap that resulted in a fumble. It’s certainly nothing we’re used to seeing from Mahomes, who is undoubtedly one of the best signal-callers in the NFL. The former Texas Tech standout has already thrown six interceptions in 2021.

The 38-20 defeat now puts the Chiefs in dead last in the AFC West, a position extremely unfamiliar for a team that’s enjoyed the utmost success over the last few years. Mahomes definitely has a point, though. He is the leader of this organization and the one who has the ability to turn things around.

Kansas City will be looking to get back to .500 this Sunday as they face the Washington Football Team.
