By now, we’ve seen quite the array of guest co-hosts enter and exit through the front doors of ABC studios to sit on the panel of The View. From Mario Cantone to Caitlyn Jenner, Star Jones to Alyssa Farah, nearly everyone and their mother has visited to fill ex-host Meghan McCain‘s seat on the show. No, really — even Meghan’s own mother, Cindy McCain, stopped by for a brief stint as host. This week, though, we’re in for a first: breaking Season 25 ground, Sherri Shepherd will be on The View as guest host for the entire week.

Usually, we’ve seen old co-hosts of The View return for “Flashback Friday,” but the talk show is twisting our wires this week. Could this mean Shepherd is filling in full time? Permanent hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar have been out quite a bit this season, with Ana Navarro subbing in, so are we headed towards the end of their storied careers on The View?

While the panel is ever-changing on this season of The View, here’s what we know about Shepherd’s longevity on the show.

Who is Sherri Shepherd, and why is she hosting The View? When did Sherri Shepherd host The View?

Sherri Shepherd is an ex-host of The View, now well-known for her roles acting in hits like 30 RockPrecious, and Madagascar 2. She’s returning to fill-in for the empty seat left by McCain.

Shepherd began her turn on The View back in 2007, joining the panel at the same time as moderator Whoopi Goldberg. At the time, she sat with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Barbara Walters, and Joy Behar. In her seven years as host of the show, the panel only changed once when Hasselbeck and Behar left (although Behar quickly returned to the show). They were replaced by Jenny McCarthy, who only stayed for one season.

“It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on,” Shepherd said at the time. Her departure prompted McCarthy to leave at the same time.

“If Sherri goes… I go too. #sisters,” McCarthy tweeted.

Is Sherri Shepherd the permanent replacement for Meghan McCain?

No — at least, we don’t think so. The View has yet to announce the permanent replacement for McCain, so they’re “taking a little time” to find the official host. In the meantime, we’ve been getting a series of conservative co-hosts to come in as guest panelists.

This is, however, the first time during Season 25 that an old co-host has come to visit for entire week. Usually, old co-hosts have come to visit at the end of the week for special Flashback Friday episodes. This time around, however, Shepherd will stay Monday thru Friday. Similarly, none of the conservative guest hosts have stayed longer than two days.

Is Sherri Shepherd returning to The View forever? How long will Sherri Shepherd be a co-host on The View?

This seems to be a one-week only deal. Shepherd’s stint as guest host begins today (Oct. 11) and spans until Friday (Oct. 15).

Who else guest co-hosting The View this week? The View Season 25 guest host schedule:

Conservative political commentator S.E. Cupp will join the panel starting tomorrow, Oct. 12. Her stint as guest host will only last two days, though, ending after Wednesday’s (Oct. 13) episode.

This week’s guest line-up is stacked, too. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is on deck today, with other guests including Louise Penny, Ron & Clint Howard, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Tamera Mowry, and Patina Miller. Even Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain will visit the talk show to discuss Joy’s favorite seriesScenes From a Marriage.
