Huntersville Mom Uses Kindness To Cope With Grief Of Losing Son

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C.– Kim Jacobs is a mother who gives to others every chance she gets. It’s the same kind of giving spirit that her 12-year-old son, Gabe had. He died in 2015 from an undiagnosed heart defect known as “Anomalous Left Coronary Artery”. The defect prevents blood from flowing to the heart properly.

Gabe collapsed during a family game of basketball. Gabe’s mom says her son was a kind and generous soul. He looked out for everyone and even earned the nickname, “Guardian Gabe”. She says Gabe made everyone feel like they were his best friend.

Shortly after Gabe passed away, his mother came up with the idea of Gabe’s Heart Foundation. The foundation promotes awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and performs random acts of kindness in Gabe’s memory.
