Who Is 'Scenes From a Marriage' Actor Oscar Isaac's Wife? Meet Director Elvira Lind

Elvira Lind and Oscar Isaac's relationship was propelled into the spotlight after Isaac's display on the Venice Film Festival Red Carpet with his Scenes From a Marriage co-star, Jessica Chastain. The long-time friends may have undeniable chemistry but any hint of a romance between them is strictly on screen and between their characters as both Isaac and Chastain have been married to their respective partners for over three years. Newsweek has everything you need to know about Isaac's other half, Elvira Lind.

Who Is Oscar Isaac's Wife Elvira Lind?

Elvira Lind is a Danish screenwriter and film director from Copenhagen, Denmark.

She is best known for creating and directing her first fiction short film, The Letter Room, which starred Lind's husband Oscar Isaac as a prison officer who becomes tied up in the inmates' personal lives.

The Letter Room received several award nominations following its release in 2020, including Best Short Film at the Tribeca Film Festival, the Palm Springs International ShortFest and the Telluride Film Festival. It also received an Oscar nomination for Best Live Action Short Film.

Lind was also behind the 2017 documentary Bobbi Jene which explored American dancer and actress Bobbi Jene Smith's decision to leave the prestigious Israeli dance troupe Batsheva to pursue a solo career in America.

Bobbi Jene premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival where it won all of the awards in its category, including Best Documentary Feature, Best Cinematography in a Documentary Feature, and Best Editing in a Documentary Feature.

Lind is also known for directing the documentary Songs for Alexis, a film about two teenagers, one who is transgender, as they try to make their relationship work.

On her website, Lind shares that she studied at the CityVarsity School of Media and Creative Arts in Cape Town, in South Africa, majoring in documentary film. Since graduating, she has worked for TV, cinema, and the web across four continents.

She is also the co-creator of Mad Gene Media, a New York-based production company that she founded alongside her husband.

Speaking to NPR, Isaac revealed they met while he was prepping for the role of folk singer Llewyn Davis for the 2013 film Inside Llewyn Davis.

They went public with their relationship at the 2016 Golden Globes, with a red-carpet kiss that took the entertainment world by storm as, before that, Isaac's relationship status had been pretty vague.

They married in 2017 and have had two sons together: Eugene and Mads.

Speaking to GQ about their decision to tie the knot when Lind was pregnant, Isaac explained: "She's Danish—she's not a citizen, and she was very pregnant. And there was an element of figuring out 'Well, where are we going to be?' And us wanting to be a family unit a bit more."

He added: "Also, the Danes, they don't really believe in marriage. I think it has a lot to do with the equality of the sexes over there. Marriage doesn't mean anything financially, because the state takes care of people. So the marriage itself became less important.

"My mom was ill and I saw her carrying my child, bathing my sick mon—seeing her do that I just thought: I want to be with this person forever and ever."

On September 4, Lind posted several photographs of her and Isaacs attending the premiere of Isaac's upcoming film, The Card Counter at the Venice Film Festival.

Also attending the Venice Film Festival was Isaac's Scenes From a Marriage co-star Jessica Chastain.

A clip of Chastain and Isaac posing for photos together on the festival's red carpet went viral, with fans across the world commenting on their undeniable chemistry, with others convinced they were dating in real life.

The video, which has been put in slow motion, has been viewed over 11 million times, and has received over 215 000 likes.

In the clip, Isaac gently strokes and kisses Jessica's arm before they share a tight hug.

Attending the premiere that same evening was Lind. In a clip shared on social media, Lind can be seen standing to the side of her husband and Chastain, joking with the pair as Isaac made his way onto the carpet.

Chastain recently poked fun at the red-carpet moment, making it very clear it was an extension of their on-screen chemistry. She shared an image to Twitter on September 6, comparing Chastain and Isaac's embrace to a very similar moment of Morticia and Gomez Addams in The Addams Family.
