Morning Skate: One week

Work week, that is.

NHL: Preseason-Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Monday, another work week is upon us.

Some of you fine Americans have a holiday today, while we all wish a Happy Thanksgiving to our friends north of the border.

It’s also Marathon Monday in Boston, as the bizarro world COVID schedule continues.

Marathon Monday a few days before the Bruins’ season opener. Strange days, indeed.

We sit just a work week away from the start of the 2021-2022 season for the Bruins, who will host the Dallas Stars on Saturday night.

The B’s made two somewhat surprising roster moves over the weekend, waiving John Moore and Chris Wagner.

I say “surprising” because while the moves made logical on-ice sense, I’m surprised Don Sweeney actually pulled the trigger.

Both players skated through the waiver wire without a claim. My guess is that they’ll continue to practice with the big club prior to reporting to Providence, but we’ll see.

Elsewhere, Bruce Cassidy confirmed that Curtis Lazar is week-to-week with an upper-body injury after barreling into the crease in the last game.

With Lazar out and Wagner down, we’re sure to see an even newer-look fourth line than many expected.
