Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have suffered from problems in the left-back area. They do not have an out-and-out left-sided full-back, who can play consistently for the team. Benjamin Mendy has major injury issues and is currently still suspended following his police charge. While Zincheko remains an option, he also has had issues with injuries. Another left-back for Manchester City would be ideal.

Currently, Joao Cancelo is being deployed as left-back, even though he is naturally a right-back. Even though this has proven to be successful in recent games, Guardiola would require another full-back to maintain depth in the squad to continue challenging for trophies.

According to recent reports from the Spanish news outlet Fichajes, Manchester City are interested in Bundesliga’s Portuguese defender to solve their problems on the left-hand side of the defence.

The player in question is Borrusia Dortmund’s Portguese star Raphael Guerreiro.

The 27-year old has in the recent year become a key member of the Borussia Dortmund squad. He is known to adapt well to attacking and attractive style of play, hence making him a good addition to the Manchester City squad.

The left-back has played more than 160 games for Dortmund in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and assisting a further 32.

Even though City were linked with a number of left-backs including Nuno Mendes, who has now joined PSG, Antonee Robinson of Fulham and Kieran Tiernay of Arsenal among others. But failed to sign any of them as they focused all of their attention on securing a move for either Harry Kane or Jack Grealish, out of which they only succeed in signing one.

Do you think Guerreiro would be a good fit for Pep Guardiola?  Should Manchester City make a move for him or wait and go for someone like Alex Grimaldo from Benfica, someone they were linked with previously.
