It's been a year since Dak Prescott went down with a serious ankle injury that robbed him of his 2020 NFL season. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback spoke out on overcoming the adversity in an emotional win against the New York Giants.

Despite Prescott looking fully healed as early as the Cowboys' first game of the season, he admitted that getting past this milestone was equal parts challenging and cathartic.

Via ESPN's Todd Archer:

“I'm glad it's over with,” said the Cowboys star. “I'm glad I'm past that and I think this was the final shovel in burying this thing.”

“As much as I've tried to put it off, as much as I've tried not to think about it, I think it just naturally does, right?” Prescott continued. “And it's in the back of your head, unconsciously or not.”

After the game, Prescott hugged Cowboys director of rehabilitation Britt Brown after the grueling path they shared together on the road to recovery.

“He said, ‘I know what this meant to you,' and I told him, ‘Thank you,'” Prescott said. “I told him I'm glad this is behind us. I don't know why I was in a slow, I guess, mental fog early.”

Dak Prescott may have had all this weighing on his mind, but the Cowboys QB certainly didn't show it on the field. Or perhaps he did, channeling it into a positive energy en route to throwing three touchdowns and 302 yards.
