The Cavaliers had a much better showing against the Bulls in the teams’ second matchup of the preseason. But Chicago prevailed again, 102-101, on Oct. 10 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

The Bulls routed the Cavs, 131-95, in the preseason opener. This time, the Cavs led until Chicago’s Ayo Dosunmu made a layup with 42.1 seconds to put the Bulls ahead, 100-99. Dosunmu added a short jumper with 13.8 seconds left to make it 102-99, and the Cavs missed two 3-point attempts to try to force overtime.

Lauri Markkanen scored a team-high 18 points in 26 minutes for Cleveland (1-3). He was 8 of 14 from the field, grabbed four rebounds and had three assists. Evan Mobley played 32 minutes, scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds. He blocked three shots and had two steals. Jarrett Allen added 12 points and eight boards. Ricky Rubio had nine assists.

Collin Sexton and Darius Garland did not play.
