Star Trek: Discovery reveals anticipated season 4 trailer

Star Trek: Discovery gets a trailer for their fourth season.

Star Trek: Discovery is back for their fourth season on Paramount+ and the upcoming fourth season now has a trailer that fans can watch. The season looks to be an action-packed adventure as the show follows the crew of the Discovery as they continue to traverse the 32nd century.

The cast is back in full with Sonequa Martin-Green starring as Captain Michael Burnham, Doug Jones is back as Saru, Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets, Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, Wilson Cruz as Hugh Culber, and David Ajala bak as Cleveland Booker.

The trailer also showed Oded Fehr as Charles Vance, Ian Alexander as Gray Tal, Emily Coutts as Keyla Detmer, even David Cronenberg was seen reprising his role as Kovich. We also briefly got to see Tig Notaro as Jett Reno, confirming reports that she was returning to the series for some episodes in season four.

An unknown future for Star Trek: Discovery

The new Star Trek shows are very costly and the pandemic has hurt a lot of people’s desires to invest gobs of money in shows at the moment. Talk of cancellation and season four being Discovery’s last picked up a lot of steam after the pandemic shut down of Paramount+ shows ended.

Star Trek’s Picard and Lower Decks were green-lit for two additional seasons each and were filmed back to back. As Pickard, Lower Decks, and Discovery represent the first “phase” of the Paramount+ Era for Star Trek, it would seem to think that they’d all be managed in a similar fashion.

So when it was reported that Picard and Lower Decks were filming back to back as a cost-cutting maneuver, but not Discovery, it got many wondering if that meant season four was the last season for the show. There had been rumors of a fifth season but when everything ended up happening and the other shows went to filming back-to-back seasons, that should’ve meant that Discovery followed suit.

There’s also a rumor that the season will only have 11 episodes, a decrease of two from season three, and an overall trend since season one’s 15. It doesn’t mean the show’s getting canceled, but if you’re reading the tea leaves, it wouldn’t be hard to assume that it’s on the block.

Season four begins airing on Nov. 18, 2021.
