Aaron Rodgers, Packers Top Joe Burrow, Bengals in OT After Kickers Miss Multiple FGs

If at first you don't succeed, try try again. Just ask Mason Crosby.

The Green Bay Packers kicker missed potential game-winning field-goal attempts at the end of regulation and in overtime, only to kick a game-winning 49-yard field goal in a wild 25-22 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

Instead of Crosby labeled as the kicking scapegoat after his struggles, Cincy's Evan McPherson—who missed a go-ahead field goal with 26 seconds remaining in regulation and a potential winning field goal himself in overtime—will now hold that distinction.

The Packers moved to 4-1 on the season with the win. The Bengals are 3-2.

It was the kind of finish that had just about everyone scratching their head in astonishment:

It was surely sweet relief for Aaron Rodgers, however, who led the Packers into field-goal range on three separate occasions down the stretch and finished 27-of-39 for 344 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Aaron Jones (103 rushing yards) and Davante Adams (11 catches for 206 yards and a score) had big outings for the Packers as well.

It was a tough one to swallow for Joe Burrow, who threw for 281 yards and touchdown passes to Samaje Perine and Ja'Marr Chase. He also had two interceptions in the game, including one on the first possession of overtime deep in his own territory that would have immediately been costly had Crosby not missed his second of three game-winning field-goal attempts.

Like Rodgers, Burrow put the Bengals in position to win the game at both the end of regulation and in overtime. Unlike Rodgers, he didn't come out on top.

Regardless, the Bengals have to be pleased with their last two first-round picks in Burrow and Chase (six receptions for 159 yards and a score). That duo couldn't quite will their team to victory Sunday, but they're going to win plenty of games for the Bengals in the future.
