HILLSBORO, Ore. – A man was sentenced to more than two years in prison after being convicted of stealing over $35,000 in merchandise from Ulta Beauty.
Quentin Lashawn Covington pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated theft on September 27.
The Washington County District Attorney’s office said he stole more than $35,000 in goods from Ulta Beauty, a well-known beauty supply company across the Portland metro area.
"On 16 separate occasions, the defendant carried out essentially the same plan. He would enter the store and immediately start loading a bag or basket with expensive perfume and cologne," the district attorney's office said.
In most cases, the defendant was in and out of the store in less than two minutes.
Detectives with Tigard Police worked with authorities in several other jurisdictions to identify Covington as a suspect.
A Washington County Grand Jury then indicted him, leading to a warrant for his arrest.
In addition to his prison time, Covington was ordered to pay more than $35,000 in restitution and has to stay away from the businesses that he targeted.
