Real Madrid's Marco Asensio Linked With Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool

Liverpool have been linked once again with Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio. After being linked with the Spanish forward in the summer, reports have re-surfaced that Jurgen Klopp may still hold an interest in the player.

Spanish publication ABC reported this week that Liverpool are one of a number of clubs watching the situation with Asensio unfold, with Juventus and AC Milan also supposedly interested.

The player has had limited opportunities on the pitch this season under new manager Carlo Ancelotti for the Whites and is reported to be frustrated at his lack of opportunities.

Asensio enjoyed the early years of his career at Real Madrid after he signed from RCD Mallorca. He suffered a setback however in 2019 when a serious knee injury in the summer meant he spent a long spell on the side-lines.

After returning from injury, Asensio started to re-build his career at the Santiago Bernabéu under Zinedine Zidane last season.

With opportunities limited so far under his new Italian manager and his contract due to expire in the summer of 2023, all interested parties will be looking on to see what happens next.

LFCTR Verdict

Whilst the Spanish international is a very skilful and talented player, it is doubtful whether he could adapt to the intensity of the Premier League and the demands of a Jurgen Klopp team. One to keep an eye therefore but unlikely to end in a deal.
