Giants pitcher's twin in stands confuses fans

It's happened countless times throughout their lives ... why wouldn't it happen during the playoffs, too?

Twins reliever Taylor Rogers came out to support his twin brother, Giants reliever Tyler Rogers, for Friday's Game 1 of the National League Division Series presented by Good Sam between the Dodgers and Giants at Oracle Park in San Francisco. Taylor sat with Jenn Rogers, his sister-in-law and Tyler's wife, who posted to her Instagram stories (@jayyyrog) that she thoroughly enjoyed all the confused looks from fans in the stands when they noticed a striking similarity between the guy in the stands and the guy on the mound. From Taylor's expression, he apparently got a kick out of it, too.

"A lot of people mistook him for me, and even during the game, they were asking him why he's in the stands," said Tyler Rogers with a laugh on Saturday ahead of Game 2.

In general, it was a thrill for Taylor Rogers to see Tyler pitching in the playoffs. Tyler added that Taylor was "very excited when I came in, and he was very excited all day." Taylor even offered up some savvy postseason advice.

"He told me about the commercial breaks being longer," said Tyler. "He said, 'So if you're warming up in between innings, really take your time, because you can be ready and there will still be a minute and a half left until the commercial break's over.' So that was a good tidbit from him."

Lefty Taylor -- a six-year veteran who pitched to a 3.35 ERA across 40 outings from the Twins' bullpen in his first All-Star season in 2021 before landing on the 60-day IL with a left middle finger sprain -- has yet to face submarining righty Tyler, who was called up in '19, in a game. Tyler enjoyed a breakout season in '21, posting a 2.22 ERA in 80 games. He entered in the eighth inning of Friday's 4-0 Giants win to retire Corey Seager and strand Mookie Betts on second in his first postseason outing, which also preserved starter Logan Webb's scoreless line in his playoff debut.

The Giants are scheduled to pay the Twins a visit from Aug. 26-28, 2022, so maybe there's a duel in the Rogers brothers' future.
