Tyson Fury delivered a motivational speech after his dramatic 11th-round knockout victory over Deontay Wilder to retain his WBC heavyweight title, following a pulsating fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

It completed a memorable trilogy of fights between the pair, and Fury spoke about his strength of character to come back after being floored twice in the fourth round by Wilder.

In a post-fight interview with TR Boxing and Premier Boxing, he said: "I've had three fights with the biggest puncher in the history of my sport in my division. He caught me - he caught me twice in the fourth round, but I was never thinking, 'this is over.' I was thinking, 'okay good shot, but I will get you back in a minute - and I did.'"

"I was very conscious and I saw the referee go, 'three, four', but I was always there. He shook me, he put me down, but that's boxing. It's also life as well; it's not about how many times you get put down or how many times you lose, it's about how you keep coming back and keep moving forward.

"You've got to keep moving and keep fighting; not just in life, but in general. Nothing is ever going to be easy. If you want something that's very hard to get then you've got to sacrifice, dedicate and keep pushing, no matter what and never let anyone tell you, 'you can't', because tonight again I showed it's positive to achieve anything you want, as long as you believe it in here [pointing to his head]."

Fury is now on course to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000. But in order to do so, he must take the WBF, IBF and WBO crowns currently held by Oleksandr Usyk. The Ukrainian is set for a rematch with Anthony Joshua first, to see if Fury's fellow Brit can win back his belts.

But in Fury is in doubts already that he is the greatest heavyweight champion of his era. He told BBC Sport: "I am the greatest heavyweight champion of my era, without a doubt. Number one. If you play with fire long enough you will get burned."
