The New York Red Bulls extended their unbeaten streak to six games by defeating Inter Miami CF 1-0 on the road. The Red Bulls are 4-0-2 in their last six games and have moved up to within three points of Montreal for the seventh and last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
First Half Events
It was a tight game until the 25th minute when Andrew Gutman picked out Patryk Klimala behind Miami's backline and gave him a great pass. The Polish striker loaned from Celtic this offseason finished with his left-foot.

The Red Bulls almost extended their lead when a cross came into the Miami box and midfielder Omir Fernandez attempted a header, but a ball came off his midsection and was saved by Nick Marsman.
The first half ended with the visitors from New York up a goal, but the visitors were just as relentless in the second half as they were in the first.
Second Half
Shortly after the second half began, Patryk Klimala nearly added his second goal of the game when he hit the bar with a shot.
In the 70th minute, Sean Davis let rip a shot from outside the box that Marsman saved well in the bottom right corner of the net.
Caden Clark replaced Omir Fernandez in the 72nd minute of the game, as an attempt by Gerhard Struber to get an important insurance goal.
Tom Barlow came on for Klimala shortly after and would factor in to an exciting end of the game.
In stoppage time, Tom Barlow was all alone down the left flank and shot on the run with his right foot but his shot went high and wide of the target.
At the very end of stoppage time, Inter Miami almost tied the game but Carlos Coronel was there to make the save.
Men of the Match
For New York, this was an important win for many reasons. It gives the Red Bulls more hope to make the playoffs, as they are just three points (one more win) behind Montreal for the seventh and final playoff spot.
The key performers of the game for the Red Bulls were Andrew Gutman and Patryk Klimala and let me tell you why. Klimala scored the game-winning goal on a feed from Andrew Gutman, who has been a game-changer all season long.
Sean Davis, who is the team's captain as well as one of their best players discussed how Gutman's play has changed as the season has gone on.
He had to go through injury struggles earlier in the year, but he's a guy whose been super-professional, hard-working and I'm glad he's on my backline.
Davis also discussed his goalkeeper, Carlos Coronel's save in stoppage time which preserved the shutout and the unbeaten streak
They were throwing everything forward and that’s difficult to deal with. We try our best to put out fires and in that moment it was Carlos at the right moment at the right time.
There are big things happening in New York and the Red Bulls can continue this unbeaten streak on Oct. 17 against New York City FC, in the third and final meeting of these two cross river rivals.
