It's well-known around the league that Devin Booker looks up to Kobe Bryant. The Phoenix Suns star has been vocal in his admiration for the late Los Angeles Lakers legend, paying tribute to him in any way possible. In the latest NBA commercial, the NBA allowed Booker to show his respect to his mentor in a heartwarming moment.

Recently, Booker revealed the lead-up to that moment, saying that paying tribute to the legendary Bryant was a “no-brainer” for him. The Suns star also told reporters that he spoke to Kobe's wife Vanessa about the tribute and asked for her blessing. (via Arizona Central, Kellan Olson)
“I'm glad the way it turned out, obviously. You know, no lines. Which is how I want it to be and got to pay my respects at the same time. So it was a no-brainer for me. I talked to Vanessa [Bryant] about it, she 100% cleared it, which made me feel more comfortable doing it.”

That's a touching gesture from Booker. It's never easy when you are reminded of the death of a loved one, and the Suns star made sure that Vanessa Bryant would be okay with what he was planning to do. It's that attention to detail, the meticulousness in everything you, that the late Kobe passed on to Booker and the current generation of hoopers. No matters what you do, treat it carefully and do your own diligence.
Book's tributes to the Lakers legend has been well-documented. He wore custom Kobe sneakers with the words “Be Legendary” inscribed on them, paying homage to what Kobe told Booker before. When the Suns made the Finals last season, Booker channeled his inner Kobe and willed the Suns to improbable wins in their entire run. Kobe may be gone from this world, but we can take solace in the fact that he lives on in the current generation.
