McPhee blames Fleury's agent for the netminder finding out about his trade on Twitter

Marc-Andre Fleury was dealt from the Vegas Golden Knights to the Chicago Blackhawks back in July. Fleury reportedly found out about the trade on Twitter and was not happy about it, even going as far as contemplating retiring from the NHL.

Ultimately, Fleury said that he would join the Blackhawks for the 2021-22 season. But the reason he was considering retirement was due to his agent according to George McPhee.

On Saturday, Vegas Golden Knights President of Hockey Operations George McPhee revealed why the team let Fleury find out on Twitter about the trade, and the reasoning involves the future Hall-of-Famer's agent, Allan Walsh.

"McPhee says the Golden Knights purposely stopped communicating with Marc-Andre Fleury and allowed him to learn about the trade on Twitter after Allan Walsh started trying to "sabotage the trade" by telling teams he might retire," David Schoen of the Review Journal said on Saturday.

It's safe to say the Vegas Golden Knights front office isn't a big fan of Allan Walsh. Their first issue with him was on August 22nd 2020. That night, the Golden Knights announced that Robin Lehner would start game one of the Western Conference Final against the Vancouver Canucks. Following that announcement, Walsh tweeted a picture of his client, Fleury, with a sword going through his back, with head coach Peter DeBoer's name on the sword.

While Fleury's time on the ice in Vegas will be remembered for many reasons, including the teams journey to the Stanley Cup Final in 2018 and winning the Vezina Trophy this past season, it might be remembered most for the off-ice problems with the front office and his agent.

Fleury will make his return to Vegas on Saturday, January 8th.
